- Exploding 22 Cal. Air Pistol/Rifle Pellets -

pellet01... 14.8k     These are a lot of fun and are very easy to make. They are made by epoxying a large pistol primer onto the front face of a standard 22 Cal. lead air pellet. They explode on impact when fired at any reasonably hard surface. In test shots fired into a 3/4" thick ballistic clay block, the standard air pellet made a 22 Cal. hole penetrating about 1/2" into the clay. The exploding pellet, fired from the same gun, blew a 1" diameter hole all the way through the 3/4" thick block. Make sure you wear eye protection when shooting these, as they can throw the lead pellet right back at you!
